PLEASE RSVP ON WAV'S WEBSITE! Join us for Sun Print Snapshots! This is a FREE workshop in partnership with COSI. Suitable for all ages, no prior experience needed.
We invite you to create a unique print using Cyanotypes, and share your story!
Using symbolic objects and this unique cameraless photography method, the shadows of these objects will create stunning vibrant blue & white images. Watch the magic happen as prints change color and develop right before your eyes!

When: May 2nd, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Drop-In Workshop, join us any time between 3:00PM-6:00 PM!
Where: At WAV's studio space: 1327 Sullivant Ave, Columbus OH 43223
Parking Information: Guests are invited to park along the white garages on the side of our building, down Dana Ave. Street parking is also available.
Why Join? Participants will gain an increased understanding of the overlap between art & science while expressing themselves, telling their stories, and building community!
Who Can Attend? Everyone! This workshop is open to all ages and all skill levels, children under 5 years old may need additional assistance from a parent or guardian. All materials, equipment, and instruction will be provided, no prior experience is required!
What is a Sun Print / Cyanotype?
Cyanotypes are a cameraless photography method that creates images using a photosensitive chemical solution on paper or fabric. This scientific process was invented in the 1840s, and has been used historically for blueprints, botanical classification, and more. Photosensitive means something is sensitive to light, specifically UV light from the sun (thus- sunprints!). When the UV light interacts with the chemicals, it will turn your paper bright blue. The white areas of the photo are made by blocking light, you can use plants, found objects, or photo transparencies to do this.
Light has the power to transform our world, and ourselves. The objects you use to make your prints create an image by blocking the light, reminding us we can't have light without casting a shadow too. We invite you to think about how light has transformed your life, and use that to inspire your prints.
Are the chemicals dangerous?
The cyanotype chemicals are non-toxic. Though they are non-toxic, they can be a mild skin irritant, especially if you have sensitive skin.
We provide gloves and proper safety equipment for anyone participating in this workshop! If you have any questions or concerns, please ask us on our RSVP form and a member of our team will be happy to answer you.
