The 'land of gold', known as Aswan is a culturally rich Nubian city made up of small islands and mainland in the South of Egypt. The pharaohs such as queen Hatshepsut shipped pink and black granite and limestone from Aswan to built their pyramids, temples and obelisks.The solar phenomenon of the sun festival at Abu Simbel happens twice a year. Oct 22nd celebrates Ramses II birthday, as the sun aligns at sunrise with the statues within the inner sanctum. We will be dancing with the theme of light throughout the week, with a focus on inner alchemy.

This retreat is organised by Katie Holland and her husband Majdi. They have been living in Egypt since 2020, sourcing and creating the best network for cultural adventures. They specialise in experiences that are not usually found on the tourist trail!
Katie started hosting her own dance retreats in 2006. They have been hosting and organising retreats in India, Bali, Bulgaria and Egypt together since 2012.
Majdi is fluent in Arabic and English (handy for shopping!)
Katie is the creator of Awakened Bellydance and a specialist in sacred dance, energy therapies and life transforming processes.
