We meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month by the shed at Tanhouse Lane in Flood Meadows. Starting at 10 and finishing at 12 noon. Do come and join us. Led by Brian Good, we work in partnership with Alton Town Council to carry out monthly conservation tasks in the Flood Meadows, a 15-acre area of public space around the source of the Northern branch of the River Wey.
We spend two hours carrying out a range of tasks related to maintaining the waterside paths, trimming back or removing vegetation and generally enhancing the natural beauty of this rather special area for all to enjoy. Tools provided - and refreshments! Bring wellies if you're comfortable wading in the river.
We can usually find appropriate tasks to suit the interests and abilities of our volunteers, and over the years this has grown into a very friendly and supportive experience for all concerned.
In addition, we are often in a position to direct people to further volunteering opportunities within Alton on an ad hoc basis as and when they arise.
