About this Event
The City of Summit Tiny Forest is a densely planted, fenced microforest with over 700 plantings of more than 50 native species located behind the Summit Community Center. In April 2021, the Summit Environmental Commission received grant funding from New Jersey American Water Environmental Grant Program to plant the Forest for all residents and visitors to enjoy. Summit’s Tiny Forest was planted and has been maintained by community volunteers and members of the Summit Environmental Commission. The Forest adds biodiversity, better retains stormwater and captures carbon, while also providing educational opportunities for visitors. It will become a fully-formed, multi-layer forest in 20-30 years.
