Let's gather to celebrate the return of Summer! Sigrblót, also known as Summer's Night, is traditionally celebrated on the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. We'll gather at the Wapsipinicon State Park Rotary Lodge to celebrate Summer's Night. The day's festivities will include:
-Community time
-Eating
-Outdoor activities
-A group meditation/sound bath journey
-An evening fire blót (ceremony) honoring the return of summer
During the sound bath journey, we'll connect to either a summer god, summer goddess, compassionate ancestor, or Norn with the intention of gaining insight for our blót ceremony. We will ask them for their advice on what to do and/or what intentions to hold during our ceremony as we celebrate summer's return.
Communal Altar:
We will create a space for a communal altar where sacred items can be placed to charge. Feel free to bring sacred objects with you. We will also place an offering to the ancestors here.
Food:
Please plan to bring your own main lunch and dinner dishes and beverage(s). If you'd like to bring an appetizer or dessert to share, you're welcome to do so.
Fire Ceremony:
The evening's blót is intended to be highly ceremonial. Please feel free to bring face paint and ritual/ceremonial garb to enhance your experience. I also suggest bringing items that you would like to give as offerings during the blót such as wine/mead/whiskey, flowers, homemade items, herbs, etc.
Fire Ceremony Supplies:
If you can, please bring something to aid our fire creation. Either bring fire starter, a lighter, or a bundle of firewood.
Time:
We have access to the Lodge beginning at 10:00 am. Check-out time is at 10:30 pm. You do not have to be present for the entire day. However, please note that certain activities (such as meal times and the evening ceremony) will be at set times.
