Event: SummerFest at the GLC, Race Time & Judging at 10 AM
Details:
The mission is to build the best boat from cardboard and duct tape, race around Woods Reservoir and return in the fastest time.
Team
Teams will sign up by August 4th. Teams will be made up of an AEDC squadron or branch. Only one team per squadron or branch. Construction of the boat will be made by members of the squadron or branch. Racing team will be made up of 4 members from the squadron or branch. The racing team will launch, race, and recover the boat as fast as they can. The boat will be piloted by one member of the racing team.
Cardboard Boat Materials
The cardboard boat may only be made of cardboard and the supplied 6 rolls of duct tape to be picked up at the ALC. Decorations can be made of cardboard, duct tape, and sharpie markers.
Race
The race will take place on August 12 at 10:00 at the Gossick Leadership Center. Teams and boats must be in place by 10:00 for judging. Boats will be judged on style, decorations, and team costumes. The team of four and boat will begin behind the starting line. The team must place their boat in the water and launch the boat with 1 pilot. The pilot will paddle their boat around the post approximately 50 feet from the waters edge, and return. The team must recover their boat, and all four members and boat must be behind the starting line.
Awards
Teams will be judged on style, decorations, and team costumes, and race time (or distance if the boat did not cross the finish line)
