From salsa to soul, and everything in between, our lineup promises a musical journey that caters to every taste. Segerstrom Center is proud to celebrate Black Music Month this June, with a focus on amplifying Black voices, musical origins, and influence. This series will highlight Black artists and creatives over the course of several exciting programs including live performances, Tuesday Night Dance classes, and more!
About the Artist
V.C.R, born Veronica Camille Ratliff, is a world-class multidisciplinary singer-songwriter, composer, violinist, and published author. The Memphis-bred recording artist uses amalgamations of her rich southern gospel roots and classical orchestral training to produce songs rooted in vulnerability and truth.
Soulquest is a collective music experiment comprised of members Ill Camille, Iman Europe, Swarvy and V.C.R. Together they joined forces in the making of Idyllic, a masterful result of a four hour live jam session created in the mountains of Idyllwild, CA. Inspired by the legendary Soulquarians, a rotating collective of experimental Black musicians during the late 90s to early 2000s. Soulquest infuses their sound with a fresh perspective while staying true to the roots of authentic soul and hip hop."
