With free music events happening every weekend throughout June, July and August, Summer Sounds is the perfect family day out. Bring along your picnic blankets and deckchairs, and enjoy music in the garden as John Lennon did as a child.

Live on the bandstand on Saturday 29th June is Skelmersdale Prize Band.

Skelmersdale Prize Band are an award-winning group of musicians based in Old Skelmersdale, West Lancashire. First forming in 1878, the band are made up of almost 30 brass and percussion players who are dedicated to creating and delivering high quality musical performances. Repertoire ranges from traditional hymns, overtures and marches to test pieces, pop songs and more modern compositions, many of which they look forward to showcasing for the audience at Strawberry Field.

Meeting twice a week for rehearsals, the band take part in a variety of events both locally and further afield, including concerts, contests and marches. Recently, the band were crowned North West Second Section Champions at the annual regional contest in Blackpool, and as a result of this will perform at the National Finals in Cheltenham in September, under the baton of inspirational young conductor Ben Coulson, where they hope to bring some silverware back to the North West.

Doors open from 10am with performances starting at 2pm. Free entry, but donations are welcome and appreciated.
Please note that there is no seating in the garden. Feel free to bring your own chairs and picnic blankets. Food and drink will be available to purchase in the Imagine More café.
