Summer Solstice: Release, relax and reflect
Join me for three hours of very slow body-sensing yoga asana, restorative yoga, deeply restful yoga nidra, and the chance to pause and reflect just ahead of summer solstice, and the turning of the wheel towards the darker months.
Although we are at midsummer’s point, summer solstice on the 21st is the signalling of the Sun shining directly down on the northern hemisphere of Earth, creating the longest day, but also indicating that the days from here will be become shorter as the light lesssens. This is the time to celebrate the joy and abundance of light - but also to recognise the cycles of the seasons, and the balance required throughout the year.
The asana practice will be very slow and earth-bound ie very little if any standing and certainly no jumping. This is yoga to help you reconnect with your body and all that the body holds, from our physical tensions to our mental and emotion tensions, and begin to explore how to release these tensions through calming and soothing the nervous system.
This is accessible, restful yoga, that I feel will help us drop into the present moment, and connect with the “pause” of the wheel at solstice.
Yoga nidra and journalling will help us connect with the dreaminess of the summer solstice, helping us to rest deeply as we are, as well as acknowledge the past, and look to the future.
We will then share tea and snacks (all provided) and conversation, this is an important part of yoga practice known as satsang, meaning community. You are warmly invited to bring anything which represents summer to this workshop - this could be an item, a photo, flowers, a poem, anything which you are happy to share, and we will take time to share this inspiration with one another. We will close with some journalling, and a gratitude meditation.
These practices are suitable for all, even complete beginners. If you are looking the chance to release tension, feel more calm and content, and to connect with the seasons, this workshop is for you.
