About this Event
More than 4,500 years ago, ancient people erected Stonehenge, a sacred space constructed of massive stones that still align with the sun on the Summer Solstice. Artifacts indicate that it was a place for festivals and ceremonial fires.
So, as the summer solstice draws near, let's check out the wacky Virginia attraction "Foamhenge" at Cox Farms and their Smokin' Saturday festival. The fires in this case will be from barbecues; there will also be live music, yard games and goats! The site opens at 11 am. Meet up at the picnic table at 12 noon for a discussion about the spiritual meaning of the summer solstice, solstice traditions and ideas for celebrating the solstice. Participants will receive a gift bag containing a presentation handout, solstice candle and candle holder and other themed treats. Explore the grounds or have some lunch, then meet up again at 1 pm to take the brief hay wagon ride to and from Foamhenge.
Parking is free. Admission to the event at Cox Farms is free. Cost of food and drinks is on your own. If it rains substantially, this event is cancelled and refunds of fees, minus Eventbrite's processing charges, will be provided.
