About this Event

As part of the 'Orchard for Pollinators' Project we are running a programme of orchard maintenance workshops and volunteer days across Bristol, Bath and South Glou. With the aim of bringing orchards into active management to improve the habitat for local wildlife and communities.

Please note: If you are looking to join the workday as part of your work/corporate volunteering please email [email protected] before booking.

Manor Woods Valley has a beautiful orchard with trees of varing ages. This session will be focused on managaging areas of the grassland /meadow using traditional scythes.

Janine will deliver training in the use of traditional Austrian scythes including principles and practical instructions in how to use these historic tools as well as techniques and priciples in meadow management.

The day will consist of a training sessions and toolbox talk in the morning and practical work after, including raking and removing the cut grass.

The work can be quite physically demanding so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

All Health and Safety provison will be covered in safety briefing at the start of the session.
