Take a deep dive into the sweet nectar of yogic literature from the sages. This is a time to associate with a community of yogis, who have enthusiasm for understanding, hearing and speaking of relevant yoga topics in the luminous science of self-discovery.
Allow your practice to evolve and grow as we learn in a collective yoga study. Appreciate the impactful principles of yoga through traditional philosophies written and spoken with the purpose of uplifting.

Sangha is a Sanskrit word that means association. It is an assembly of the community to talk and share perspectives of relevant topics on the luminous technologies within yoga. The purpose is to use yogic scripture and the community to create a deeper understanding of the principles of yoga and elevate spiritually. All levels of yoga practitioners are able to assimilate into the culture and perspectives, while seasoned yogis are able to share their experience and lifestyle with a larger audience.

June 10th- Kriya /Hatha Yoga: the yoga of purification from the inside out of the physical, subtle, & spiritual body. Some of these practices are daily hygienic discipline, to prepare the body for more directly bodily manipulations, breath work to control the vital life air, stilling the mind and much more. The word Kriya means purification of the physical and subtitle energies of the body. As we continue to clarify & deepen our relationship with our selves, our bodies create a balanced system as described by the word Hatha. The word hatha means: Ha 'sun' energy or masculine energy and Tha 'lunar' energy or feminine energy. We all possess both of these energies within, yet when one pervades over the other we fall out of our natural balance. This process is to come back into that true balance so we can experience our full purposes to heal ourselves and the world around us. This study will be relying mainly on references from the text: A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Yoga and Kriya /by: Swami Satyananda Saraswati (along with referring to other bonified yogic texts)

July 8th - Raja Yoga or Ashtanga yoga described by the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali.
Raja Yoga is also known as Ashtanga Yoga (Eight Steps of Yoga), because it is organised in eight parts:
Yama - Self-control
Niyama- Discipline
Asana - Physical exercises
Pranayama - Breath exercises
Pratyahara - Withdrawal of the senses from external objects
Dharana - Concentration
Dhyana - Meditation
Samadhi - Complete Realisation
Within the study of the yoga sutras we will highlight and breakdown these different steps and relate them to a modern model without straying from the over arching theme and direction of the text.

August 12th - Bhakti yoga: the yoga of devotion with the heart through the Bhagavad Gita, Shrimad Bhagavatam and other texts. Within these studies we will learn about the stories and history of yoga from the sage who scribed the Vedas, the Mahabharata, and Shrimad Bhagavatam and many other influential texts by Veda Vyasadeva. We will also learn about the modes of martial nature, the major processes of yoga and how to use the yoga of unconditional love in your everyday life. And so much more!

Satsangs are Thursday nights 7:45-8:45pm and are donation based with a portion of the proceeds going to GiveIndia.org
