This event is part of our programme of events for the Summer Reading Challenge 2024. This year's theme is Marvellous Makers, and it will be a celebration of the Creative Arts; children will be inspired to express themselves in creative ways, tap into a world of imagination and storytelling and - of course - to read!
The Reading Agency will be working with the charity Create and children's illustrator Natelle Quek will bring the characters to life. The Reading Agency has said the following about the theme: "Whether or not they know it as ‘creative art’, we know children enjoy being creative, telling stories and expressing themselves through various creative arts. This might be drawing pictures, building models or taking photographs; it could be an interest in scrapbooking, music or design; or perhaps it’s a love of illustrated books. The possibilities are endless."
