Welcome to Imagine Nation's second annual summer Immersion Program. We are so excited to have you join us for our textile camp. This program can be purchased as a program for the entire week for $200, or tickets may be purchased by the day for $50.
Our drop-off programs begin at10:00am, but drop-offs are welcome starting at 9:45. Pickup time is 12:30. All days include the immersion program, a snack (please mention if your child has any allergies), and time to explore in the museum and/or learning park.
This program is best suited for ages 7 and up due to some of the materials we will be handling.
7/8 - Intro to Textiles and Batik
Be prepared to touch many different fibers, both natural and synthetic. Students will also prep their cotton squares for batik, learn how to use tjanting tools, and make their design with wax on fabric.
7/9 - Ice dyeing and Batik Square Dying
Students will use fiber reactive dyes on cotton tapestries to create stunning one-of-a-kind works of art using the power of melting ice. They will also dye their batik squares.
7/10 - Shadow Tapestries
Students will design their own cyanotype tapestry using a variety of found materials for the shadow design, then together create a larger mural (5x7) for display within the museum.
7/11- Fleece Preparation and Fiber Art pictures
Students will learn how to clean a freshly shorn fleece including steps to scour and prepare fiber. They will design a 3 dimensional piece of art with assorted natural and synthetic fibers on a blending board.
7/12 - Hand Sewing
Students will learn and use hand sewing techniques to make their own chashmere bears using recycled sweaters. Buttons and accessories will be provided to personalize their bears.
