During the summer holidays there will be daily art activities at Woodhorn Museum for famililes to enjoy.Visit our Pop-up Ashington Group hut during the summer holiday and get creative with a programme of art activities designed by Paul Merrick and inspired by one of the Ashington Group paintings. The activity will change every two weeks, so come and have a go at all three activities.
Admission to Woodhorn Museum is £9.50 adults, £8.50 concessions and under 18s visit for FREE. Pay once and enjoy unlimited repeat visits for a whole year.
Saturday 20th July – Sunday 4th August: Pigeon Crees
Have a go at making a colourful mini allotment and fill it with your choice of birds, flowers and prize winning veg using paper collage techniques.
Monday 5th August – Sunday 18th August: Whippets Whippets
Inspired by the much-loved Ashington Group painting ‘Whippets’ by George Blessed, you will create your own colourful versions of the much-loved breed of dog that became a big part of the pitmen’s lives away from the colliery.
Monday 19th August – Sunday 1st September: Oom Pah Pah
Oom Pah Pah! is inspired by the amazing brass instruments played by members of Colliery Brass Bands. Pick a player and create your own imaginary brass instrument using the materials provided. The wackier the better!!
A friendly member of staff will be on hand to help but we ask that children are not left unattended, grown-ups are encouraged to get creative too!
Woodhorn Museum is open 10am - 4pm seven days a week during the Northumberland school holidays. The Pop-up Ashington Group Hut is open between 12noon and 3pm. Drop-in, no need to pre-book.
