Summer Foraging and Wildcrafting Walk.6th of July 2024

Cosmeston Country Park, Vale of Glamorgan.
Have you ever wanted to develop your knowledge about how to work with nature to improve and maintain health and well-being? To understand more fully the medicinal and healing properties of the plants and trees, and how we may prepare our own natural remedies to aid in keeping us healthy?
In an informative and instructive workshop that takes you on a journey through the woodlands and meadows that surround a beautiful lake, learn how to identify what grows in these different areas, and how the plants and trees can be worked with to make your own home remedies.
Summer is a time of abundance, and as we immerse ourselves in the natural world, our own energy and our senses respond to the vitality and life all around us. The blossom on the trees is starting to become the fruit. The plants grow tall, the grasses shimmer in the sunlight, as Mother Nature allows us to feel completely nurtured in her presence.
Within the session, we will be looking at identification of trees and plants, certain characteristics, how they may grow in relation to their environment, their edibility, what parts you may wish to work with to create home remedies, and how to work with them safely.
Plants we are likely to see will include the following:
Meadowsweet, plantain, yarrow.
Hawthorn, hazel, oak
Clover, self heal, hedge woundwort
Apple, beech, willow
Agrimony, St John’s Wort, daisy.
There will be a section of the walk where you will be shown what equipment you will need for making your own natural remedies, along with details of how to make the following:
Infusions
Decoctions
Tinctures
Herbal oils
Herbal salves
Flower essences
Herbal syrups
Herbal honey
Elixirs
The workshop is designed to be educational, but also healing in itself, being a space to allow yourself to let go as Mother Nature herself brings you back into balance.
Additional information.
We will meet at 10 o’clock outside the café situated in the main car park.
The first part of the session will see us walking through the landscape, observing and learning about what grows there. There will be a break for lunch, after which we will be continuing to look at what is growing, but also looking at how to work with what we have found, with examples for you to experience.
There is food available to buy at the café, but you may wish to bring your own refreshments.
You may also wish to bring a place to record notes, or take photographs, for future reference.
The walk is designed to be at a relaxed pace. Please wear suitable walking shoes for the day.
Cost of the walk is £38.
