As part of our Summer Film Series, the International African American Museum (IAAM) is proud to present Downing of a Flag, a compelling two-hour documentary that delves into the complex history and impact of the Confederate Battle flag on South Carolina and beyond.
Through firsthand interviews and extensive historical footage, the film examines the symbol’s controversial relationship with the Palmetto State, exploring its true meaning and the events that led to its removal.
We invite you to join us on Thursday, May 22, 2025, for an outdoor screening in our African Ancestors Memorial Garden.
This program is presented in partnership with the AfroSouth Film Festival
