About this Event

There’s no party like an MCA Denver Party! On Wednesday, June 14, celebrate the opening of two summer exhibitions - and .

Maiz Denver food truck will be on hand serving up traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern touch (for purchase). Denver band The Mañanas will perform a rockin' outdoor set before KDJ Above gets on the turntables for a rooftop dance party to close out the night. Is there a better way to spend a Wednesday night? We don't think so.

Tomashi Jackson creates vibrant research driven works in the mediums of paintings, printmaking, video, photography, fiber, and sculpture. Influenced by California muralist traditions reflecting peoples’ movements of the 1950’s-1990’s, Jackson’s often immersive work scrutinizes the mechanics of societal power and recognizes the triumphs for the empowerment of communities of color.

Anna Tsouhlarakis centers Indigenous knowledge systems and ways of teaching as starting points in reframing the discourse around the construction of Native American identity. Through video, performance, sculpture, photography, and installations, Tsouhlarakis challenges and expands the boundaries of aesthetic and conceptual expectations for Native artmaking to reclaim and rewrite their definitions.
