This summer, the historic Centennial Trailhead Cabin in Woodland Park will transform into a bustling hub of creativity and learning opportunities for elementary-aged children. "Creative Explorers" is a unique summer art camp designed to immerse young minds in the wonders of artistic expression and craftsmanship. Over the course of three weeks in June, this program aims to inspire and impact between 30 to 36 children, from 5 to 10 years old, by nurturing their creative talents and skills.
Curriculum and Activities:
Each day at camp, children will have the opportunity to explore various centers at their own pace, driven by creative provocations. A daily guided activity will focus on teaching a specific technical skill, such as clay slab construction or brush techniques, ensuring a blend of self-directed exploration and structured learning.
In addition to creating art, children will engage in communal snack times, fostering a sense of community and shared experience. Every camper will also receive a sketchbook and drawing implements to take home, encouraging them to continue their artistic journey beyond the camp's confines. They will be taught how to gather ideas and work like professional artists, making their summer experience truly transformative.
