About this Event
Doc Wattson has been telling stories through rap for over twenty years, and he's just now starting to tell people that he's good at it. But boy, is he excited to share with you! Join Doc Wattson in an intimate setting of storytelling through the art of rhyme.
Doc Wattson hails from the north suburbs of Chicago and studied literature, music and business at Washington University in St Louis. There he also cultivated a passion for hip-hop, particularly the brutally honest and vulnerable story telling but also the improvisational creativity. He formed the band Sac Lunch at the end of school and performed with them for a few years in and around the midwest, until it was time to move back to Chicago...
In Chicago, Doc Wattson was effectively a stranger in his hometown. This sparked the inspiration for the Native Stranger EP and then a record label. He has produced or appeared on over two dozen projects in the past twenty years, performed on hundreds of stages, started a record label with a small slate of artists, all while living life and pursuing a career. Drawing inspiration from jazz, funk, rock, classical, synth-wave, punk, and all the life experiences thrown at him, prepare for an eclectic and entertaining evening!
