Join MCASD Educators for an exciting camp season, where campers will engage in fun art projects inspired by different pieces from the Museum’s Collection. *Funky Fusions (Ages 6 – 7): July 8 – July 12, 8:30AM – 3:30PM
We will make masks inspired by Gerald Clarke, scarves inspired by Yinka Shonibare, and mixed media art jewelry inspired by artists in our featured exhibition, Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today.
-Learn how contemporary artists combine materials and ideas to make exciting new art.
-Play with different styles as you go on an adventure through the Museum.
-Hands will get messy while mixing and matching mediums and learning about the elements of art.
*Art in Motion (Ages 8 – 9): July 15 – July 19, 8:30AM – 3:30PM
We will explore the exciting works of Jeannette Ehlers and Daniel Lind Ramos from MCASD’s exhibition, "Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today," as well as the sculptural work of Niki de Saint Phalle and Tom Driscoll from our permanent collection.
-Explore movement-based art through flip books, claymation, optical toy thaumatropes and more.
-Make new friends as you collaborate on a hand-crank TV show and become an art star!
*Neighbors: You, Me, and All In-Between (Ages 8 – 9): July 29 – August 2, 8:30AM – 3:30PM
We will explore the works of Niki de Saint Phalle, Ana Mendieta, and many others as we strengthen our bonds within our neighborhoods!
-This exciting week will be filled with community-building and learning how art helps us connect.
-Create portraits of your new friends, tell stories of your community through your art, design flyers and posters, and work together on chalk murals.
