Thank you for inquiring about our 2024 Summer Horse Camp at Harris Riding Academy. We are excited to open our barn to summer campers this year and teach your child about the American Saddlebred show horse.Camp is designed for riders ages 6 -13 years in age. Campers will learn the ins and outs of horse care including:
- Grooming and Tacking
- Horse First Aid
- Daily Care for the horse (feeding, stall cleaning, etc.)
Campers will participate in two daily rides. Campers will ride outside in our outdoor arena.
1.) Group lesson
2.) Afternoon fun ride…..Bareback, trail ride, games on horseback, and more.
The horses that are used in our camp program are all part of our lesson program. These horses have the patience and skill sets to teach beginner riders up to the most experienced. Alongside great horses we have a wonderful teaching staff available to teach your riders in a safe, clean, and positive environment. Camp is designed for the beginner rider. No riding experience required.
Helmets: Campers will be required to wear helmets. Helmets will be supplied by Harris Riding Academy.
For the safety of our campers, staff, and horses we ask that parents wait till the end of the week when we have a horse show to see what their campers have learned. ** Parents are not permitted to stay and watch during camp hours. Parents and Family will be able to attend our horse show at the end of the week.
The end of week horse show is a huge deal for our campers. Campers will have a horse show on the last Friday of each week. Parents will be able to see what their child has learned.
Camp Dates:
Week 1: June 3rd - June 7th
Week 2: June 10th - June 14th
Week 3: July 8th - July 12th
Week 4: July 15th - July 19th
Early Bird Discount: $50.00 off if registered by March 1st.
Cost $600 per week. $200 Non Transferable - Non Refundable deposit is due at the time of registration.
Camp hours are from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Before and After Care is available for a fee.
What to Bring
- Water
- Lunch, plus snacks
- Change of clothes
- Pease arrive to camp wearing long pants, and riding boots or boots with a 1/4 inch heel.
- Sunscreen
** There will be no electronics (cell phone) out during camp.
