
About this Event
A week long camp (4 days, Monday through Thursday) for the kids ages 8+ to take advantage of the equipment in the Fab Lab at Lake Michigan College. Explore the Fab Lab with this dollhouse/domestic diorama theme. Participants will be complete a variety of projects while learning various machines.
Sample events over the week include:
- Using the lasers to cut out your dollhouse and corner room. All participants will get both the corner room and the open walled dollhouse to create.
- 3D print furniture for your rooms
- Utilize vinyl to create "wallpaper or paint" for your walls of your project
- Learn to paint by using acrylic paint to cover the walls of your various rooms
- Craft paper and fabric scraps will also be used for you to create various objects for your project (Get Creative!)
- Learn how to turn wood with the mini lathes to create wooden dolls
- The entire lab will be used for this project, it'll just depend on the participant on what he/she would like to use.
Participants should be at least 8 years old to participate within this camp. Proper attire is also needed. No open toed shoes or loose clothing. No “dangling” jewelry and all hair will need to be tied back. Due to tech availability, not all departments will be open each day.

The Fab Lab is a place where students can build science, technology, engineering and math skills through hands on learning. Participating in Fab Lab activities allow students to explore and experiment with digital fabrication technology including 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, and Vinyl Cutters.
