Join Studio 210/ Deborah Slater Dance Theater for the culmination of the Summer 2022 Residency! Xochipilli Dance Company/Héctor Jaime and Surabhi Bharadwaj will present their residency projects, followed by a discussion with the audience.

About the Artists & Projects

Héctor Jaime (They/She/He) was born and raised in Mexicali, Baja California, México. They graduated from the Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet BFA Program. Post graduation, they became a member of Sean Dorsey Dance and Dawson Dance SF. Recently, they became part of the 2022 LatinXtensions Cohort. Xochipilli Dance Company’s work investigates romance, tenderness, vulnerability and heartbreak through movement, drawing inspiration from the 1992 film Like Water for Chocolate.

Surabhi Bharadwaj is a seasoned dancer, choreographer, and teacher who holds an MFA in Bharatanatyam, and an MFA in Dance: Design & Production. As the Artistic Director of Siddhi Creative and Siddhi Dance Academy, Surabhi creates work through introspection and collaboration and hopes to bring communities together. Surabhi will present “The Maze,” a dance exploration of mind and body navigating the inner constraints and societal complexities controlled by hegemonic ideologies that we all are constantly navigating.

About the Performance Format

This event will be a hybrid event, with a livestream and a limited in-person capacity. Tickets to this event are by donation (suggested $10 - $50). Proceeds support the Residency program and Studio 210, helping us continue to offer this opportunity to performing artists throughout the greater Bay Area. In-Person

Studio 210 will offer 20 tickets per night for in-person admission, PRE-SALE ONLY. TICKETS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. Ticket sales will close at 7am PT on the day of the performance.

  • Audiences must be vaccinated to attend this event. Proof of vaccination is required along with a matching photo ID for entry. In compliance with the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), beginning February 1, 2022, all event artists, speakers, staff and attendees must be “up-to-date" on vaccination against COVID-19. SFDPH defines up-to-date as (a) two weeks past completing the full initial course of vaccines AND (b) one week past receiving a booster when eligible.
  • Wearing a mask is required in all areas of the building.

Livestream

The performance event will be live-streamed to Youtube, where attendees can chat and comment on the performance. Ticketholders will be emailed a link to the livestream at the time of the performance. An account is not required to view the livestream; however, to participate in the comments, users must have a google account and be signed in when accessing the livestream. Auto-captions will be available for the livestream.

Accessibility Information / How to Get to Studio 210

Studio 210 is on the second floor of the building, accessible via stairs (18 steps) or a freight elevator. Studio 210 is wheelchair accessible. Seating is armless chairs. There is one gender neutral, wheelchair accessible bathroom down the hall from Studio 210 (~100 feet from the studio).

To reach the main entrance of the building, enter the private parking lot on Cesar Chavez between Mission and Valencia and go around the right side of the small building to the double glass doors under the awning. The freight elevator is located on the loading dock next to the glass doors.

There is no parking lot or designated parking; Studio 210 is approximately 1/2 mile from the 24th St. BART station and there is very limited street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
