About this Event
Join in for a relaxing afternoon of creativity on the back porch outside at Homegrown Studio in Pilsen, Chicago and learn suminagashi, the meditative art of marbling with Kelly Laughlin, artist and founder of Odette Press.
In this lightly guided, tranquil workshop you'll learn the process of Suminagashi, the ancient, meditative Japanese paper marbling process. Translating to "floating" or "spilled" ink, you'll use colorful inks to create mesmerizing, nature-inspired designs on the surface of water and leave with a collection of marbled papers. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, far from your creativity, or uninspired, come to class. Arrive curious, and leave feeling inspired.
This workshop is great for beginners, and all materials will be provided. Come alone and gift yourself some creativity in solitude, or bring your friends and make it a date night to remember and enjoy an inspiring night of creativity together.
Ticket includes all materials to make 10+ marbled papers. In the event of inclement weather, this workshop will be moved inside. This class is BYOB.
