About this Event
Join us to learn about sustainable landscape design and resilience to flood and drought, and help install a rain garden based on permaculture principles at the Joseph A. Nelson Community Center!
This public, hands-on installation workshop will create an environmentally resilient garden. It will be an opportunity to learn about rainwater capture through in-ground swales, water-efficient drip irrigation and how to plant and mulch for a waterwise, sustainable garden that builds healthy soil.
Participants will
1) Dig swales
2) Distribute mulch and topsoil
3) Share lunch and learn about small-scale solutions for community resilience that you can bring to your own home
Some tips for the day:
*Wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection, bring gloves and a refillable water bottle
* Light lunch will be provided
*Bring your own lunch if you have specific dietary needs
