About this Event
Complex feelings can compound when they stay inside, and sometimes we just need space to be. A Sacred Passing is curating a neutral space to share and connect about competing wants while being cared for by others with a homemade meal.
Many people are making a choice to live, and it's really hard. In this space we can be together in conversation about what life is like when actively making the choice to live while not wanting to.
Our initial goals for Suicide Suppers are:
- to create a sustainable, generous, caring, and supportive space
- to make space for people to talk about their feelings, without looking for a solution or a fix
- for people to receive physical nourishment and care by being served a meal made with love and intention
- to bring the conversation out of the body
- to share resources and tools for life
- to soften some of the conversational edges around living with suicidal ideation
We ask people to plan for Seattle traffic, wrong turns, and slow drivers. Please be on time.
When you arrive at the location, ground yourself before coming in with a few deep breaths and movement.
Over appetizers we will share a poem, the boundaries for the space, community wishes, and introductions.
We offer a variety of conversational prompts, though conversations may also take their own direction, led by the attendees.
We will work to close the thickest part of our conversation before the last course of the meal, leaving time to gather ourselves before leaving.
