The art workshop, funded by the Edmonds Diversity Commission, and the Edmonds Arts Commission, celebrates Dia de los Muertos through the traditional Mexican art of sugar skull making to honor those who have passed. In this 45-minute-long workshop, 15 participants, ages 6-10, will be provided with all needed materials to make and decorate their own sugar skull. Participants will be able to take home the sugar skulls they create.Led by Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys, a bilingual visual artist with over 15 years of experience leading hands-on workshops with after-school programs, community centers, libraries, private and public schools. Amaranta was born and raised in Mexico City but calls the PNW her home.
