Returning to Sunder Nursery, New Delhi, on February 28 and March 1, 2026, the Sufi Heritage Festival marks its second edition with a thoughtfully curated celebration of Sufism as a living, dynamic cultural tradition.
Conceived by Yasmin Kidwai and Himanshu Anand under Culture Plus, the festival is shaped by ideas of conservation, community, and shared cultural inheritance. It approaches Sufism not as a fixed historical form, but as an evolving continuum—one that continues to inspire dialogue, creativity, and connection across generations. Designed as an immersive, open-air experience, the festival weaves together music, poetry, storytelling, performance, craft, and food, creating spaces for contemplation, exchange, and collective presence.
The programme is presented across two distinct stages:
Samaa (Main Stage) brings together renowned legacy and contemporary performers including Sona Mohapatra, Daler Mehndi, Marham Poetry, among others, while Bebaak (Contemporary Stage) foregrounds experimental voices and bold reinterpretations by artistes such as Sonam Kalra, Saumya Kulshreshtha, Aahvaan Project, Shinjini Kulkarni, and Murad Ali Collective.
Adding another layer to the festival experience is the Sufi Bazaar—a carefully curated marketplace featuring heirloom crafts, textile traditions, handmade objects, and artisanal practices from across India. These offerings are complemented by interactive workshops and curated culinary experiences, designed to foster intimate engagement with Sufi thought and lived cultural practices.
Set within the historic landscapes of Sunder Nursery, the Sufi Heritage Festival invites audiences to encounter Sufism beyond nostalgia—as a contemporary, inclusive expression rooted in love, pluralism, and shared humanity.
