About this Event
5pm - 7pm - Suffrage Celebrations at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House
Mark your calendar for a momentous occasion as we celebrate 131 years of the women’s right to vote here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Join us in honouring the remarkable efforts of the suffragists who paved the way for this historic achievement, right here in the very house where these world-changing events unfolded!
We’re also proud to unveil the "131 Years of Suffrage" Printmaking Exhibition during this special evening. After a memorable premiere in Pukekohe for the 125th anniversary of suffrage, the exhibition is now being showcased on the South Island for the first time. The exhibition contains 131 contemporary printmakers’ works from across Aotearoa that celebrates and reflects upon the lives, legacy and stories of wāhine of our past, present, and ongoing journey towards equality, equity and justice. Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard house will be hosting the exhibition until February 2025.
Enjoy a sparkling drink from our temperance bar and listen to inspiring talks from the talented printmakers featured in the exhibition.
