Taking place Friday June 7th through Sunday June 9th ,SubSurface is an event which showcases the work of established mural artists from Indianapolis and beyond. From 2002-2016 the yearly Subsurface event showcased mural and graffiti artists from all over the United States. Every Labor Day Weekendthese artists would travel to Indianapolis for a weekend of creating art and sharing in good times. Mural work was done in Broad Ripple, the near Southside and Fountain Square.
Through the years, this event produced a remarkable collection of public art. SubSurface was on the forefront of making Indianapolis the well-established destination for murals and street art that it is today.
For the 2024 event, various locations throughout the Fountain Fletcher District will be selected to be a part of the project. This project seeks to further enhance the public art landscape of the neighborhood, which is one of the preeminent Arts Districts of Indianapolis.
