“Start the fucking play.”
So begins Stupid F##king Bird, an exploration of the turbulent intersection of Love, Art, and Identity — with more than a touch of humour and irreverence.
Con aspires to create art that means something—something real, something true—a dream that his traditionalist mother, Emma, struggles to comprehend. 'Sort of adapted from' Anton Chekhov’s enduring masterpiece, The Seagull, this piece is a witty and raw contemporary reimagining that challenges the norms of traditional narrative, whilst having a lot of fun. Love complications abound: Con loves Nina, Nina Loves Trig, Trig loves... himself, Mash loves Con, Dev loves Mash… Sorn loves everyone and Emma LOVES!
Critics have hailed the play as a “poignant and relevant piece of theatre that defies the boundaries of conventional formats” (Theatre Bloom); “a ripe mashup of mock and awe” (Washington Post); and “…an accessible and unfailingly delightful jaunt …absorbing in its every glance and revealing in its every sigh.” (Washington City Paper)
Prepare to be captivated as Stupid F##king Bird takes flight, inviting audiences on a journey through the tangled webs of human emotion, ambition, and self-discovery.
“Stop the fucking play.”
