An introduction to Marxist economics
Want to understand what makes capitalism tick, where profits come from and why workers will be capitalism’s gravediggers? Join us for an 8-session introduction to Marxist economics. We will read and discuss A People’s Guide to Capitalism by Hadas Their. Thier says that her book “aims to follow the content and arc of Marx’s Capital,” and she presents this in a way that can be readily understood by 21st century readers. Published in 2020, this book is a lively, accessible, and timely guide to Marxist economics, which is essential reading for all of us who want to understand the capitalist system in order to dismantle it.

The book is available for $35 from the Solidarity Salon bookstore or can be easily ordered online.
The series starts on Wednesday, 4 December with the second session on 18 December. It then resumes 8 January and continues every second Wednesday until 19 March.
