Join us for a workshop inspired by The Obama Portraits Tour and works in the High’s permanent collection. We will begin with a visit to the galleries to investigate the elements of art and principles of design, finding inspiration in repetitive patterns and textile materials. Afterwards, we’ll work independently to explore the unique technique of block printing and stamping on fabric. We’ll learn safe carving methods to develop printing blocks and stamps and explore resist techniques, Gelli printing, and recycled and repurposed printing tools.Studio Sessions take place in the Education Center but meet in the Taylor Lobby. They are designed for adults, but all ages are welcome. Materials will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. This Studio Session will be offered again on January 26.
