Hands-on Studio Portrait Workshop with Woodward Camera & You're So Fancy Studio ✨
Join us for this studio portrait workshop in collaboration with You're So Fancy Studio in Pontiac, MI! Step into a fully immersive studio experience designed to sharpen your creative eye and elevate your portrait work. This workshop is built for photographers ready to move beyond the basics—photographing with a model, refining lighting decisions, improving subject direction, and working with greater confidence and intention on set.
We highly recommend taking our Tackle Your Flash class on March 21st to learn the fundamental flash information and techniques that will be used in this workshop.
In this workshop, you can expect to learn:
10am-11am:
- A focused refresh on flash and lighting fundamentals (Recommended: Register for our Tackle Your Flash Class on March 21st to get the most out of this event!)
- Posing techniques and real-world photographer–model communication strategies
- Professional on-set etiquette and workflow tips for efficient, collaborative shooting environments
11am-1pm:
Two fully demonstrated lighting setups with a model:
- Natural Light Setup
- Flash Setup
Each participant will get the hands-on opportunity to photograph the model in each lighting setup. Our staff will be available to help you with camera and flash settings along the way to help you make the most of your photos!
What do I need to bring? 📸
Please come prepared with a fully charged camera, portrait lens, and memory card. We will have a selection of portrait lenses for attendees to try–but please note that lenses may need to be shared!
Come ready to shoot, collaborate, and leave with practical techniques you can immediately apply to your next portrait session. We can't wait to have you join us!
