The Task:
It is really exciting tocontinue to working on this site that has the potential to start to link up a few Duke of Burgundy colonies in the surrounding area and we are going to continue a citizen sceince experiment to monitor the impact of our work here. The work we did last year led to a great improvement in the flora we saw in the areas we worked in. We will:
1. Use mattocks, forks and spades to dig out roots in areas taken over by multi stemmed dogwood.arisings- map the areas where this has been done and monitor impact. Map similar area to those that will be cut and collected in usual way to compare.
2. Tree pop where possible single stemmed scrub
3. Lop back and cut any larger scrub that cannot be dealt with in this way
What to Bring:
Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task -wear strong grippy boots/wellingtons, lots of layers, waterproofs, long trousers and sleeves are advisable as there is thorny vegetation. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of fluids!
We will be bring a tea kits and biscuits! No noisy tools today, so a peaceful day with great views of the Chilterns.
