A violin and piano recital given by the students of Janet Kuester and Mindy Sondag will be held on November 15,2025, at St. Peter’s Church in Frankfort, Illinois November 15 at 2PM. Students range from beginners as young as age 5 to advanced high school students.
Violin students attend group class every season to meet up with their fellow students and play games that enhance their learning and love of their instrument. Both piano and violin students study through the Suzuki method. The Suzuki philosophy of music education stresses early start, parent involvement, listening daily to recordings of repertoire, and nurturing the child’s natural curiosity and desire to play.
Violin students are eagerly anticipating their 3rd year of AIM (Achievement in Music) exams. They will take exams in April. performance, ear training, scales, and sight reading.
Some of the piano performers also performed on November 1 in the Monster Concert jointly sponsored by SAMTA (Southwest Area Music Teachers Association and KVMTA (Kankakee Valley Music Teachers Association). November 1 along with over 70 other pianists who performed duo piano selections in groups on November 1 at Olivet Nazarene University.
“Music training involves much more than “just lessons”,” said Janet Kuester. “Children learn so much by hearing each other, performing music to bring joy to others, and engaging socially to share their love of music with each other and their families. “
