I've seen many parents talking about this so I decided to take the initiative and plan it!
On February 7th, 2025 do not send your children to school. This is a tangible way you can support CUPE's cause and stand with the hundreds of children who have been stripped of their right to an education and forced to stay home for the duration of the strike.
This has gone on way too long. The school boards aren't listening. The government is not listening. We need more voices. We need ALL of you.
Schools are getting dirty with inadequate scab labourers not keeping up with the skill and dedication custodians bring to our schools. Staff in schools are struggling to keep up with their duties and the added administrative needs. Teachers are functioning without critical support from EAs (if you think EAs only serve the students they are supposed to be assigned to, you are SORELY mistaken.)
I understand this might feel like a big ask but so many of us have been forced into this situation every single day. We are asking you to make this happen for ONE day. With 3 weeks to plan, I am humbly asking you to please, please make arrangements to make this work.
There is power in students raising their voices. There is deep meaning in allowing our children to see their peers stand up for them.
Let's stand together to send a simple message: our kids deserve better.
