About this Event

Program Overview

Introducing a new Volunteer Outreach program aimed towards students of all ages! Consistency, dedication, and retention is rewarded through a tier system. The more events a student participates in, the higher ranking they become within our Student Steward Program.

Purpose

This program aims to inform students of our varying volunteer opportunities, recruit students to engage, continue to volunteer, and reward them for their consistency. Through the acknowledgement of students’ dedication, it forms a sense of community and bonds with and among students through OCF. In turn, we get consistent volunteers in our spaces who are invested in our organization and can continue to give back and encourage others.

How will it work?

Starting in January, students that come to any OCF volunteer event will be tracked based on the number of events they have attended. This includes planting events, nursery volunteering, tree care volunteers, and UFEC workdays. This also includes any workshops that we may put on. Each tier corresponds to a certain number of events attended, and in turn, students are rewarded and acknowledged. Program will go on until the end of the school year (June 2026).

Tiers

3 events = “Tree Seedling”: certificate

5 events = “Tree Sapling”: social media highlight

8 events = “Tree Hugger”: pack of seeds

10 events = “Tree Hero”: social media highlight, OCF gear

Following the program launch, we will continue the day with volunteering at the Nursery.
