About this Event

Join us on the 20th January at Europe House in Dublin for our Student Media EU Affairs Workshop 2026 featuring a panel discussion with Miriam O'Callaghan and Florence Okojie, our keynote address from the 2023 winner Joshua McCormack and workshop on the EU Presidency! Registration from 11:30!


In collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Ireland, European Movement Ireland is running an in-person media workshop in Europe House on Tuesday 20 January 2026 for third-level students who are interested in applying for the 2025 Student Media Awards (SMEDIAs), in the category for Journalism on European Union issues, sponsored by the European Commission.


This event give students the opportunity to:

Be prepared and equipped to submit a piece for the European Commission Award in the upcoming SMEDIAs competition, leave with the knowledge and confidence to research EU affairs both for this project and into the future, and meet with journalists and communications professionals and EU affairs experts who will offer insights on writing about the EU, student journalism, and pathways to a career in media.


A journalism group task on Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026.

This year’s guest speakers are:

Miriam O’Callaghan, RTÉ Prime Time and RTÉ Radio One’s Sunday with Miriam

Florence Okojie, RTÉ News2Day Presenter.


Moderator: Aisling Brady, Head of Communications, European Movement Ireland.

Lunch will be provided after the live panel discussion and Q+A session, before a short presentation and writing task.
