STRUT: WeHo Pride Community Dance Class for Beginners

Express your most fabulous self with queer choreographers Laurel German and Aukai Cain!

Dance has always been for all bodies and it has always been queer. Tap back in to the joy of dancing in a judgment-free space that is safe to learn, move, and STRUT! Whether you've got two left feet or you've been dancing since you could walk, you belong here.

This beginner class is intended for those with little to no dance experience. All bodies, abilities, and levels are welcome! Our intermediate/advanced level class will be held immediately following the beginner class.

Tickets: This class is FREE, but we highly recommend signing up in advance to ensure your spot. Those without advance tickets will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis as space allows.

Class format: Class will start with a brief warm-up, then a walk through of some helpful dance basics. The majority of class will be spent learning hip hop choreography to a popular song by a queer artist or queer icon. Every class will feature a new song and new choreography. At the end of class, students will have the opportunity to film their dance in groups if they choose.

About the instructors: Laurel (aka El, she/her) is a lesbian dancer and choreographer with over 10 years' experience teaching beginning and intermediate dancers how to move and feel confident on the dance floor. Check her out on Instagram: @the_dancing_queer

Aukai (aka Pineapple, he/him) has been dancing and choreographing professionally for 27 years, as well as teaching dancers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels to fall in love with dance. Check him out on instagram: @houseofpineapple
