THE SUBTHEORYDark trip hop, psychpop, downtempo project Andy Hill began following the break-up of his previous band, twotime Nightshift cover stars Death of Hi Fi. Initially a solo project alongside his work composing music for games and television, The Subtheory soon became a duo as Andy teamed up with singer Cate Debu before becoming a four-piece with the recruitment of bass player George Lambourne and guitarist Pat Scott. As the line-up expanded, so did the sound and ‘Shark Tank’ is a gorgeous album of shifting shadows and dark moods, somnambulating beats and lush electronic textures providing the suitably shady landscape for Cate’s wonderfully ethereal and limpid voice to drift over like smoke (Nightshift).
