Log bench press:
Rules 30 sec time limit per rep.
Max log, heaviest press wins, last man/woman standing
The log has no handles, it's an actual log that the athlete will lie under and press from the bottom off of pins inside a caged bench rack (10" diameter 95lbs empty) The log will start empty, it will rise in weight by 10 to 20 pound jumps. Athlete may jump in at any time. Each athlete gets unlimited warm ups but only has 3 official attempts. It is the athletes responsibility to let the judge or score keeper know if they are still warming up or going for an official attempt. Once you fail an attempt you are done and your last successful lift will be recorded.
Equipment allowed: belt, wrist wraps, one pair of elbow sleeves. No bench shirts, doubled or built up elbow sleeves, no gloves.
Paul's Stones of the North
Rules 60 sec time limit
Women 103# natural stone men 214# natural stone
1 point to lap the stone. 2 points to get stone chest high. 4 points to get stone to shoulder. 8 points to press stone overhead.
Athlete can lift stone for reps(adding 1 point for each rep) however 1 rep to chest high beats all reps to lap, 1 rep to shoulder beats all reps to chest high. 1 rep of overhead press beats all reps to shoulder.
Equipment allowed: belt, chalk, stone sleeves.
Not allowed: gloves, tacky or other sticky stuff
Chain of pain
Rules: 60 sec time limit
30' 200 pound chain made of 3" links. Chain will be attached to a barrel on a bracket that allows barrel to roll. Barrel is weighted with Meade (pretend Meade that is actually sand). Athlete will have 60 sec to drag barrel by the end of the massive chain 50 feet across the course. Barrel must completely cross the finish line.
Fastest time wins. If athlete can't complete the full drag, distance will be scored.
Athlete can drag it backwards, they can arm over arm pull it, or they can hoist chain over shoulder and march forward with it. Get creative and play to your strengths!
Tug o' war
Two athletes at a time
It's tug o' war. Just no sitting down. Athletes must stay on feet and try to pull opponent across the center line.
Tie Breaker: suit case farmer grip hold.
In case of a tie for 1st,2nd,or 3rd place
Athletes will hold a heavy farmer handle with one hand. The first one to drop it loses their ranking.
Really cool prizes for podium finishers and the glorious right for 1st place to call themselves the strongest man or woman of the Blue Ridge!
