Aphasia is a language disorder caused by damage to parts of the brain that control speech and the understanding of language. — What is Aphasia? —
Aphasia is a language disorder acquired after stroke or brain injury that does not affect intelligence. A person with aphasia may have trouble understanding, speaking, reading, or writing.
Each year, approximately 795,000 Americans have a stroke. Of those individuals, 180,000 will acquire aphasia. Our goal is to bring awareness to the community about aphasia support and resources.
