Come and enjoy an intimate night of original music in the beautiful community church. With two brilliant acts to enjoy, this promises to be a wonderful night of music, joy, and connection.Headlining the gig are String and Bone, a trio hailing from Fremantle/Perth, starring singer/songwriter, Tim Darby.
String and Bone is a trio that combines disparate musical instruments and styles into an unlikely yet engaging new sound. String and Bone is to folk music what peanut-butter and jelly is to primary school lunches.
Comprised of Alex Hey(cello player and lap steel wizard), Karri Harper-Meredith (trombone and harmonium player on loan from Junkadelic) and Tim Darby (who learned to play ukulele while milking his goats)
String and Bone combines thought-provoking lyrical story telling with vocal harmonies and a country, blues, folk, funk fusion.Quirky, funny, heartfelt and always interesting, he will leave you with happy ears, a warm feeling in your belly and catchy earworms rolling around in your brain long after the performance echoes fade away.
Kicking off the night is local songstress Bethwyn Marie, with her fabulous trio of backing singers, The Songbirds (a.k.a, Rev, Melinda and Laura)
Born and raised in Bridgetown, Western Australia, Bethwyn, has been a part of the musical world since her early teens. Bethwyn started singing at various festivals in the South West when she was 13 years old. At 14, she started playing guitar and writing original music. Bethwyn Marie weaves stories of love, connection to nature, heart break, and challenges through her songs. Her eclectic taste in music shows through the variety in her songs; with acoustic rock, blues, folk, ballads and rhythmic beats in the mix.
Bethwyn Marie's powerful voice and emotive lyrics capture the audience and invoke a feeling of connection, understanding, compassion and joy. Bethwyn Marie now has a trio of tremendous vocalists backing her up.The Songbirds bring gorgeous harmonies and a full bodied sound to Bethwyn's songs.
