For over a decade workers at Harry Hartog and Berkelouw Books (HHBB) have been held on a disgraceful zombie cafe agreement with 4-hour minimum part-time contracts, no penalty rates on evenings, weekends and public holidays, and many other cuts to minimum Award conditions. Over 100 workers have joined RAFFWU and forced HHBB to the bargaining table, but management are refusing to make a fair offer. In response, workers have authorised protected industrial action and have unanimously endorsed a strike this Saturday 13 December commencing at 11am. The strike will continue throughout Saturday and again for all day on Sunday.
RAFFWU is calling unionists, community members and supporters to join a rally to support their strike action at 12pm on Saturday 13th December on Norton Street outside Berkelouw Books Leichhardt. Management needs to hear loud and clear the support workers have in their campaign.
We will be gathering outside Berkelouw Books Leichhardt and sharing information with the community. We will not be entering the store or blocking the entrance.
