Workshop Description
A single bad habit wonβt usually cause fatal disease! It is the excessive abuse and consumption that leads to ill health. And the biggest reason for this behaviour is stress, anxiety and feeling depressed. We will not use the term Depression here as depression can only be diagnosed by Certified Psychologists and many people self-diagnosed and therefore treated the symptoms wrongly.
The National Health and Morbidity Survey 2015 found that 1 in 3 Malaysians working adult experienced mental health issues and left unaddressed. It was also reported that in 2018, 4.57 million working adults reported suffering from mental health issues. Total cost was a staggering RM14.46 billion, equivalent to 1% GDP. However, only RM344.83 million was earmarked for mental health treatment. Despite this, there is still a great deal of stigma attached to mental health β making it harder for those who suffer from mental illness to recover.
It is now left mainly to the individual and the organizations to tackle and handle mental health issues at workplace to ensure personnel needs and issues are tackled early at the onset.
Depression is a fatal disease with grave consequences and it is on the rise even in Malaysia. The data is a cause for concern.
Many people suffer from stresses and some became anxiety when the solution and the environment as well as the support systems are not in their favour.
So most people suffer from stress and some form of mental health that will of course if left untreated can lead to more serious issues. Hence, for non-licensed psychiatrists, the term used is limited to stress and mental issues or health at best.
Stress and mental health is on the rise all over the world and it is important for personnel and every individual to be able to identify the symptom early and take necessary intervention steps to address the triggering factor before it gets out of control.
This program was designed to enable participants to understand the causes of stress, that may lead to anxiety and eventually other serious consequences that may be detrimental to the person and people around, as well as their families and work environment. The Trainer who spends most of his time managing a hospital and overseeing almost 200 personnel takes great concern on how stress can and has caused decline in performance and quality of life in the subjects at his organization. Inputs from some psychologists and specialists is also applied to create a program that addresses the issue with many practical techniques to overcome stress and not stressing the subjects in trying to achieve the goal.
