The street-car vibe in Cape Town is loud, proud and in your face, fuelled by enthusiasts who grew up with the Fast and Furious movies and who wouldn’t be caught dead driving a standard car.They love start-line burnouts, violent launches off the line, drifting, stance cars, glittering wraps and megawatt sound systems. And that’s where StreetFest was born: On the streets of Cape Town.
StreetFest 2025 at Killarney on Saturday 27 December sees some of South Africa's fastest cars and motorcycles throw down on the Killarney drag strip in front of thousands of cheering fans – but it’s more than a Drag Racing event.
It’s a petrolhead party with Drag Racing on the drag strip, Spinning on the Castrol Spinning Pich and a world-ranked IASCA Sound-Off in the Joubert Pits alongside the Drag Strip.
It’s always the final motorsport event of the year and the Killarney family leave nothing at home – ‘haal uit en wys’ is the order of the day, on the Drag Strip, on the Tar Oval and in the Sound-Off.
And yes, it’s about family: Spectator tickets from Webtickets at https://www.webtickets.co.za/v2/Client.aspx?clientcode=killarneyevents cost R95 for adults and free for children under 12. Prices on the day at the gate are R130 for adults and free for under-12s.
For that you get a whole day of tyre smoke, adrenalin and family fun, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. There’s cold drinks and hot food (including halaal) available from a number of vendors around the facility, so you’ll never have far to go for a snack or an ice-cold drink, wherever you are.
Bring your gazebo, your cooler box and your skottelbraai and celebrate the power and the glory with us – this is the day when the Street is King.
