Centurion Street Store: a project in the community for the community
Street Store is the world's first drop-in store concept where homeless people can 'buy' clothes for free according to their size, taste and preference. More than 900 one-day shops have already been set up in other parts of the world to boost the dignity of those in need for a moment.
A group of residents of Centurion noticed the intense need in their community and took action to dramatically change the lives of the homeless in this city. Residents are already busy collecting clothes, food and help as part of the Street Store movement.
The big day when homeless people can choose outfits to keep them warm this coming winter will take place on 25 May 2024 at 180 Springbok St, Wierdapark, Centurion, 0157. Each homeless client will have the opportunity to choose and choose between all the second-hand clothes that their fellow residents have prepared with care and will also be fed.
With a small contribution from everyone involved, a great opportunity has been created to change lives. No financial donations are traded and the initiative's success is simply modeled on product donations such as clothes and food as well as manual labor to make logistics, marketing and security possible.
The Centurion Street Store organizers still need a lot of volunteers and stock donations to adequately equip the store for homeless people and want to appeal to businesses and individuals to get involved.
