About this Event

STREAM is "Saint Rocco's Electronic Art and Music" salon -- a platform for sound poetry, moving image visual poetry, and electronic music that engages with language.

STREAM offers refreshment for body and mind in an intimate performance space. Dinner with the artists is served before the concert, and there is plenty of time to talk between acts. Stay by the campfire afterwards. This is a place to connect.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

The music of Puerto Rican guitarist and composer Federico Balducci can be described as a mixture of classical and ambient music with unusually intricate harmonies. Federico Balducci has a Bachelor's Degree in Film Scoring from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Currently, Federico mostly works on film scores for short films and documentaries. He lives and works in Western Massachusetts. Listen

Elizabeth Karp combines analog and digital instrumentation, tape collage, field recordings, and percussion to perform sound collage music. Elizabeth lives in Jackson, NY. Listen

is the author of Vaast Bin (Calamari Press, 2007) and other assorted sound, visual, and text-based works. As certain as he is uncertain of access to “the real,” Peters explores this periphery in old and new media, utilizing sound-imaging strategies as something like a poet, visual poet, sound poet, musician, fiction-writer, essayist, ecologist, ethical topologist, and a sound environment programmer. Peters was awarded an obscure poetry prize by the Academy of American Poets some time ago, but was immediately released back into the wild without being tagged. In addition to numerous print and online journals, his works are scattered in special collections like The Sackner Archive, The Ohio State University and the University at Buffalo’s avant-garde libraries, as well as private collections. Peters lives in Oneonta, NY. Listen

Al Margolis was active in the 1980s American cassette underground through his cassette label Sound of Pig Music and is co-founder of experimental music label Pogus Productions, which he continues to run. Active under the name If, Bwana since 1984, his works swing between fairly spontaneous studio constructions and more process-oriented composition. It has been said “that Al Margolis/If, Bwana is some sort of evil genius working with raw materials which are never adapted to a genre or a context, because they create one in that very moment. Those sources are radically altered up to an utterly unrecognizable state, anarchic manifestations moving in compact determination." Margolis lives in Chester, NY. Listen

is a musician and sound artist born in Tulsa, OK and is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation. His practice focuses on ecological sound art and listening practices. He holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Sustainability and masters degree in Urban Design from the University of Oklahoma. His field recording composition of contaminated water wells in Miami, OK recently premiered on a multi-channel system at the Sonic Cartographies conference in Chatham, UK. He has also released a new album in 2023 Snake on the Road on the label Peyote Tapes. Listen

was founded in September 2016 as a writers’ workshop-cum-reading series. St. Rocco’s Poetry Collective hosts an invitational reading series featuring a mix of visiting and local writers. Our main event is St. Rocco’s Readings for the Dispossessed, which features 3 or 4 readers. This reading took place monthly until the pandemic, and currently takes place in Feb, April, September, and November at College of Saint Rose, and in the summertime at Urban Aftermath Books. Alexis Bhagat at Michael Peters, two of St. Rocco's founding members, are deeply involved in sound poetry and various experimental music scenes and launched St. Rocco's Electronic Art and Music Salon as an annual event in 2019 to host artists working at the intersection of poetry, sound, music, and electronic text.

Current members are Alexis Bhagat, Kenning JP Garcia, Elizabeth Guthrie, Mitch Manning, and dgls.n.rthschld.
